Best free social media monitoring tools

What are ‘social media monitoring tools’?

Social media monitoring tools allow you to do just that, monitor your social media sites. If you aren’t sure what I mean here’s an example; take a popular tool ‘hootsuite’ which allows you to post to multiple social networks, i.e. posting the same post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time. Thus, social media monitoring tools allow you to post across many platforms quickly, they also (usually) allow you to schedule posts; which is useful because it makes you appear active on your social networks even when you’re busy.

According to overtone.com social media monitoring tools are:

Generally software, hosted or installed, that enables brands, products, and other topics to be identified in social media content

Popular social media monitoring tools

I discussed popular social media tools here and just wanted this post to be you sharing your favourite social media management/monitoring tools..I’d love to know what you use, I think it’d be helpful for us to learn from each other. Do social media management tools work for you better than managing your social media yourself? Do you use social media management tools for yourself or for a business?

Social media management tools OUTSIDE of business

Are social media management tools just there to be used by businesses? No, they’re not tools which can only be used by businesses; they can be used by anybody who has multiple social media accounts. There are lots of different social media management tools (see “Social Media Management Tools”) which can be used to help you/your businesses manage multiple social media accounts; not only saving time, but also increasing the traffic. Traffic is increased because, for example, if you didn’t use a social media management tool and just left your accounts dormant for a couple of days this would discourage your followers, maybe they’d unfollow you..who know’s? But if you were to use a social media management tool you could, when you were free, schedule a post for particular days you know you’re busy, thus making your accounts look active and so driving more traffic to your site with your content. I have found the scheduling tool very useful as it makes you seem c0nsistent with your posts on all your social media accounts, and so making more people want to follow you and discouraging your followers from unfollowing!

I would definitely recommend, if you haven’t already, to look at my linked article and choose a social media management tool you think you’d prefer; just use trial and error to begin with; i.e. scheduling similar posts at different times of the day to see when your followers are more active.

I often use ‘tweetdeck’ as it’s useful to make sure you stay engaged with your followers and make sure your followers don’t ‘forget’ about you by posting at least 2/3 times a day (most of the time)!!

Do you use social media management tools? If so, how many tools do you use? And how often do you use them?

Want to manage your social media accounts?

Well there are plenty of social media management tools (sometimes referred to as ‘dashboards’) out there to use, such as; shoutlet, direct message lab, hootsuite, tweetdeck, wildfire interactive, strongmail social studio and many more.  Social media management tools allow you to manage an element of one social media (i.e Twitter) or multiple social media websites at once (i.e. managing your Twitter posts & Facebook status’).

“A Social Media Management Dashboard is an online marketing tool suite, a website that provides a platform for you to share to all of your social media accounts and networks.” Source

I am going to discuss some social media management tools/dashboards which may help you to market your social media accounts better and boost your online presence.

www.jessicaleeman.wordpress.com  Shoutlet – a social media management software which helps you engage, promote and analyse your social communication. This software allows you to do this on various social media platforms, such as; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.

www.jessicaleeman.wordpress.com  Direct Message Lab – Allows you to control your social presence. Direct Message Lab (DML) identifies key social media locations for your brand, for example; demographics, and finds users to reach in these ‘locations’.

www.jessicaleeman.wordpress.com  Wildfire Interactive –  It’s a social media marketing software which engages in real time (like all social media). Also, wildfire allows you to schedule; so your social media accounts and networks are kept up to date.

www.jessicaleeman.wordpress.com  Tweetdeck – Is a social media dashboard which is available on Chrome, Mac, OS X, Microsoft Windows and mobile devices etc. You can use this dashboard to manage your Twitter account/s and schedule tweets for any time of day. This will make sure you stay active even if you’re too busy to tweet, as you’ve already scheduled a post.
